About This Calculator

Children's Motrin and Advil contain ibuprofen, an NSAID that reduces fever and relieves pain and inflammation. The standard children's liquid concentration is 100mg/5mL. Ibuprofen is approved for children 6 months and older.

How It Works

Enter your child's weight and select the dosing strength. The calculator uses the 5-10 mg/kg guideline to determine the correct volume. Ibuprofen should be given with food to minimize stomach upset.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ibuprofen can be given to children 6 months and older. For infants under 6 months, use acetaminophen (Tylenol) instead, as ibuprofen is not recommended for this age group.
